Substitute Teachers:
Howe Public Schools is always in need of quality substitute teachers. As a condition of employment, each prospective substitute must pass a state background search at his or her expense.

Apply in person to the Superintendent's office.

In one school year, a certified teacher can substitute an unlimited number of days; degreed substitutes can work 100 days; and, non-degreed substitutes can work 70 days - with not more than 20 days in the same assignment. Long-term substitutes are required to be certified in the area they are assigned.

  • Certified applicants must be "Highly Qualified" in the area for which they apply - as per the federal "No Child Left Behind Act".
  • There is no application form for certified positions.
